Does London Need Missionaries?
As you know, London is a strategic city of 8 million people, made up of people of all nationalities and faiths. Yet, Londoners repeatedly refer to it as a "lonely place". The Church of England estimates that 80% of people under the age of 40 have no meaningful relationship with the Christian Church. Clearly there is a need for sharing the hope of Jesus Christ, but this will most likely happen in the context of a faith community that sows into the lives of lost and lonely people. We became sensitive to the needs of London though our friend Shannon Hopkins who has served full-time ministry in London for nine years. As we supported her, we were made aware of and eventually sensed a call to work with a ministry in London called Matryoska Haus. As we prepare to join in the work of God in London, we anticipate supporting this faith community (church) in the areas of hospitality, discipleship, community, and servant-leadership.
